Listen to This: Jeff Slate - (Broken) Without You

The dream team of Dave Stewart, Duff McKagan, Earl Slick, members of Paul Weller’s band and Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds are all on hand to help out. The photo shoot for the album was even done by Bob Gruen!

And so it's Valentine's Day again, and - y'now - every year can't be all wine and roses. The holiday hits on a funny day this year: it's the day after Mardi Gras and it's also Ash Wednesday - the first day of Lent for those of your who might partake. Also, also, also, it's also the day after NYC's biggest snowstorm in years. Cupid's arrow looks a bit crooked this year, it feels rushed; off. So, maybe the time is ripe for a slightly sober day of love; perhaps it's an opportunity to reflect on not having someone to spend the day with, goodness knows there are plenty of people who are alone today, who are trying to find the right person to share their heart with. Maybe by imagining a world without the one we love, we can more fully appreciate the fact that they are there.

Musician Jeff Slate

With this in mind, have a listen to Jeff Slate's release which came out just today. It's titled

"(Broken) Without You" and explores one man's future as seen from the inevitability of a solitary existence, for now at least. It's all memories and lost time. And you know what that leads to, of course you do. It's a heart that's broken.

Slate's new album, The Last Day of Summer (via Schnitzel Records) is due for release on May 17 and features a cavalcade of well-known pros: featuring Dave Stewart, Duff McKagan, Earl Slick, members of Paul Weller’s band and Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds. The photo shoot for the album was done by none other than famed rock photographer Bob Gruen.
