Elvis Presley’s Sunset Sessions Get the Box Set Treatment with "Sunset Boulevard"

Sony Legacy to release 5-disc retrospective capturing Presley’s RCA Studio years, August 1

Elvis Presley’s storied time at RCA’s Sunset Boulevard studio will be the focus of a newly announced five-CD box set arriving August 1 via Sony Legacy. The collection spans recording sessions and rehearsals from 1970 through 1975—years that mark the final chapter of Presley’s studio output and his continued collaboration with the TCB Band.

Across 89 tracks, the set gathers material that includes classics like “Burning Love,” “Always On My Mind,” and “T-R-O-U-B-L-E,” alongside lesser-known session work and outtakes. According to the label, over half of the recordings have never been released in the U.S., and a number of them have been newly mixed by producer Matt Ross-Spang, aiming to present the performances with stripped-down clarity—less polish, more presence.

Sunset Boulevard is anchored by three discs of rehearsals that offer a closer look at Presley’s in-studio process, reflecting a combination of intensity, looseness, and experimentation. The set also includes a newly unearthed alternate take of “Burning Love” (Take 2).
