Pre-owned records are a major part of what we do at The Sharp Notes, and we are always looking for quality used vinyl collections in good condition. If you have records, CDs, 45s, cassettes, or other music-related media you are thinking about selling, we would be happy to hear from you. We buy personal collections, estate collections, reviewer surplus, and larger music libraries. Whether you have a small group of carefully chosen records or a much larger collection, we can help you figure out whether your items are a good fit for resale in our shop.

 

Before bringing your collection to The Sharp Notes, we strongly recommend contacting us first. We process a lot of inventory, but there are also many titles and conditions we may not be able to buy. A brief conversation by phone, email, or text message can save you the trouble of packing and transporting items that may not be right for the store.

Appointments are encouraged, especially for larger collections. If you have 200 items or more, setting up a time in advance helps us make sure the right staff member is available to review your collection and that you are not waiting behind other sellers. Smaller collections usually require less notice, but calling ahead is still the best move.

 

What to Expect

​

Our appraisals are free, and there is no obligation to sell. We care about being fair and transparent. In general, we base our offer on condition, demand, rarity, and what we realistically expect the items to sell for in the store. If you have questions during the process, we are happy to explain how we arrived at our offer.

​

Most appraisals can be handled the same day, especially with an appointment. If we are interested in your collection, we will make you a cash offer. Store credit may also be available.

​

For very large collections, especially strong collections of 1,000 pieces or more, we may be able to discuss coming to you. Most collections are brought directly to the store, but exceptional collections may warrant a house call.
