Listen to This: Sting, "I Wrote Your Name (Upon My Heart)"

Today, the legendary Sting, a 17-time Grammy winner, offers his latest single, "I Wrote Your Name (Upon My Heart)," through Cherrytree Music Company/Interscope Records. Alongside the track, he’s also unveiled a brand-new music video. Look below...

In "I Wrote Your Name (Upon My Heart)," Sting and his trio deliver a fresh take on a beat famously analyzed by computer scientist Dr. Godfried Toussaint, known as “The Rhythm that Conquered the World.” Originating in West Africa and evolving through the Latin “3-2 clave” rhythm, this infectious groove—also recognized as the "Bo Diddley Beat"—has driven some of the greatest rock songs ever made. Sting’s latest track showcases a vibrant and usually Sting-sophisticated twist on this iconic rhythm.

Sting is joined by Dominic Miller on guitar, Chris Maas on drums, and Martin Kierszenbaum on organ. The song marks Sting's first release since his 2021 album The Bridge, with Sting himself handling vocals, bass, and adding his signature electric guitar riffs.

With a raw, bluesy vocal performance that feels intense and personal, "I Wrote Your Name (Upon My Heart)" is a bold statement from Sting’s newly minted “STING 3.0” trio, and it heralds the start of his upcoming North American tour. Kicking off September 17 and 18 at Detroit’s iconic Fillmore Theater. Check out the full tour schedule by going to the link here.
