Goodbye, Burt!

By Evan Toth

I discovered true Burt a little late. After experimenting with most other genres of music, it was those Dionne tracks that led me back in a, “ummm, hey, what was that again?” kind of way. Of course, this led me down the Bacharach rabbit hole of solo work and beyond. So cool, so hip, so clever, plenty of class, style and je ne sais quoi. If you visit BB’s music this week, make sure to try out his later work as well: so much creative melody and rhythm, always pushing forward. I also love this picture of Burt: tan, relaxed, with a comfy Fila track suit and towel in some kind of tram; perfection. How I’ll always think of him.
