Eddie Brigati of The Rascals: A Live Interview at The Sharp Notes Record Store
On this episode of The Sharp Notes, we’re doing something a little different.
We recently welcomed Eddie Brigati of the Rascals to The Sharp Notes at Garden State Plaza in Paramus, New Jersey for a live conversation and interview in front of an audience of about 50 people. It was a wonderful night—part interview, part celebration, and a chance to hear some remarkable stories about New Jersey, the Rascals, songwriting, recording, family, and a lifetime in music.
What you’re about to hear is that conversation, recorded live in the shop.
And if you enjoy this one, we’d love to have you join us in person sometime. We’ll be hosting more live interviews and events at The Sharp Notes, and there’s really nothing quite like hearing these conversations unfold in the room.

So, with that, here’s my introduction from that evening—and my conversation with Eddie Brigati:
Good evening, everybody, and welcome to The Sharp Notes.
I’m especially happy about tonight’s conversation because it’s been a surprisingly long time coming. Our guest and I actually have what I would describe as a highly dubious family connection: Eddie Brigati is my mother’s first cousin’s wife’s first cousin. So, technically, we’re practically famiglia.
Despite that airtight genealogical bond, it has somehow taken us all these years to finally sit down together.

Of course, Eddie needs very little introduction. As a founding member of the Rascals, he helped create some of the most enduring American music of the 1960s—records filled with soul, optimism, experimentation, and some truly extraordinary songwriting and singing. And, fittingly for us here in New Jersey, Eddie was recently inducted into the New Jersey Hall of Fame.
Tonight, we’re going to talk about where all of that came from: New Jersey, family, the Rascals, the records, the songs, and the remarkable life in music that connects it all.
Please join me in welcoming Eddie Brigati.
